lest the universe catch us all astray

Although the poem itself might remind of an author caught sleeping in poetry class, this well represents a part of me today, and now is the time to pen it down.
When friends were legend did one surprise me
With the air only stale and times testing
Re defined passion and affection did he
Violent rage and autumn breeze blending
Were we vain, much to a god’s jealousy
A laugh was stolen, a smile forgotten
Every path in the vast labyrinth eerie
What belief to own, which to abandon
Fighting the odds with time leading the way
Is it the fall or is my friend back home
For only simple pleasures do we pray
Grappling today to create an epitome
Let us all herald a new dawn today
Lest the universe catch us all astray
