Foxy News

More than the supporters of the winning center-right parties in European elections (France, Germany, other trends), Fox news (along with some idiots from Fortune magazine) seemed elated about the victory of capitalism against European socialism.

“It is indeed a sad day, when we have to learn about benefits of capitalism from Europe”

Early morning Fox News induced migraine!

They conveniently ignore that it’s not a capitalism vs. socialism debate that seems to be raging in Europe. Center-right parties seemed to have better adjusted to current issues, and have struck a cord with the population. They have adopted many ideas from the left, like universal health care, care about environmental issues like carbon emissions, improving financial regulation, etc. It’s not about a particular ideology anymore as it is about changing according to the needs of the economy, a global economy, where a self-sufficient state doesn’t seem to be a pragmatic approach anymore, and balancing all your cards accordingly. And, not to forget the inefficiencies in the left parties (infighting,…) in Europe, which are not a function of their policies. A better option for them is to stick to a pragmatic center-left agenda, rather than being stuck in arcane ideals. Or they’ll be reduced to the opposition for historical purposes.

It’s eventually about who delivers. Socialism, capitalism, a mix? Without knowing the nuances of what causes the trends in Europe, who can castigate a policy and brand almost an entire continent? Well, Fox News can, with their numerous cronies.
