Well, relying your growth on mass mentality is a pretty dicey investment strategy to me. I know that overall (over a period of time) things seem rosy, but a depression could just hit you at the worst time. Yes, socking income away in a savings account, the same material amount every time unit is a dumb thing, because you'll never reach your goal. I'm talking about scaling your amounts, every time unit, according to whatever has devalued your money (assuming you're still earning according to these changes).

"To invest more because banks make too much of a profit out of your money is too reactive a philosophy to get into full-scale mutual fund/stocks/index funds investment."

I agree with this. But I do not get the rest of what you are trying to say.

The linked article says "socking income away in a savings account may be the dumbest idea in the world." which I thought was its message, which I absolutely agree. Am I missing something?
